It might be God, or it might be bad pizza

Two impressions from this debate:

1. The believers have little more than their desire that their beliefs are true.

2. The taboo against criticizing religion, or it's banal twin, spirituality, exists to protect religion from rational discourse in the public sphere. Believers would probably be wise to stick to the decorum argument because they have no hope of protecting religion otherwise. Hitchens is a good (and entertaining) debater, but even a bright undergraduate could demolish the "human beings are biological creatures defined by faith" canard.

* I stole the headline for this post from Melissa Lafsky — it's good!
