Protecting the Myth

As the Paper of Record, the Times has to pretend that this is actually a question:

Most broadly, what are the long-term costs of the government’s stepping in to restore order after so many wealthy financiers became so much wealthier through what now seem like reckless bets on housing — bets now covered with public dollars?

Because to say that this is how the kleptocrats expect to rule would be unseemly. Hey, those moneyed interests read the paper too.

Krugman has already said no deal, and explains why. Dean Baker, at TPMCafe, also explains why we cannot trust BushCo to clean up the mess they made. One thing is certain, we won't see a progressive solution to the crisis.
