Our interpretation suggests that social class exerts its effect through another variable, interest in politics. Those from higher class positions are more likely to be interested in politics, because our political culture is more likely to focus on their concerns. As a result, they will be more likely to participate.
From this interpretation, we can derive a hypothesis about the relationship between interest in politics and participation: Those who are more interested in politics will be more likely to say that they voted in the last election.
