Cohort

Any group defined by a common experience. Usually, cohorts are generational groups: Baby Boomers (people born in the 50s and early 60s), Generation Xers (people born in the 70s and early 80s), and so forth. Other common cohorts in the social sciences include people who enter the labor market or earn a college degree, at roughly the same time.
